Sintia Karam

 

Sintia Karam was born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1979. She studied photography at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK). Sintia has participated in several group exhibitions in Lebanon and other countries such as Syria, London, France and recently in Portugal.

"Unexpected Exile "
My aimless strolls in Berlin, strolls that I secretly wished would lead me to Beirut, were sequenced by photographs of the war, my home over there, that I could see here, through plasma screens, in shop fronts, in the subway, in hotel lobbies, in cafes where I sat, lost, useless and distraught. These endless strolls sent me back reluctantly to Germany's dramatic places of memory, drawing me closer through the trauma of one nation's past, to the terror of my nation's present. These are the pictures of my war, an accidental exile in Berlin, so faraway and yet so close...
