Elyse Tabet was born in 1983 in Jounieh, Lebanon. Her childhood was highly marked by Schultz comics and bedtime stories and a lot of running in the fields at the countryside, and riding a red BMX through the suburbs of Beirut. Her final project in college was an illustrative interpretation of the words and sounds of Tori Amos. Conveying sonic spontaneity with visual impulsiveness, her aim was to merge raw expression and heavy subjects of the heart and the soul. Elyse is currently experimenting with material and techniques, working as a graphic designer all day, and scribbling the nights away.
During the war, I was mostly affected by the personal stories of victims and refugees. When the warplanes weren't letting me -or anyone, for that matter- sleep, I imagined scenarios that could have easily been true, and tried to convey them on paper.
