Nadeen Al-jijakli

Artist Bio

Nadeen Al-jijakli is a co-founder of the New York chapter of the Network of Arab-American Alumni & Professionals (NAAP NY). Nadeen is a Syrian Muslim American and was born and raised in New York City. She graduated from New York University where she served as president of the Arab Students United organization. She currently attends Brooklyn Law Schools and plans pursue a career in civil rights. Throughout her life, she has worked tirelessly to enforce a positive, educated, and accurate perception of Arabs and Muslims by addressing the misconceptions of our time through organizing lectures and social, political, as well as cultural gatherings. Nadeen uses both poetry and song as an outlet to educate others of the Palestinian struggle as well as a forum to express her ideas.
Nadeen has performed at the Nuyorican Cafe, Tribes Gallery, Walker Stage, Ultra Violet, the United Nations, universities, cultural showcases, open-mics, and more. Her poetry has been published in Mizna and other journals. She strives to spread a motivational message of peace and justice with originality and warmth.
