Artist Statement
Currently, mine is a challenge to the dominant role of truth captured
by photography and it’s shaping of memory. After taking numerous
photographs I select images that are most impressionable. Using
fragments from these images I recombine them into new compositions
for a source of reference. The result is an abstracted and distorted
image that is strangely realistic. Although each image is a representation
of a particular moment, these paintings are also a combination of
memories, thoughts and hopes. Through this process, I attempt to
capture the existing influence of photography on our memories.
