Artist Statement

I "collect" and reassemble flotsam and jetsam. I take note of the litter that I pass on the street; I remember the misconceptions that I had as a child and scribble down words and trivia that I have forgotten. I recreate these objects and spaces and ideas through drawing, painting and collage. Most of my imagery is generic in nature. By virtue of being generic, it is at once devoid of and loaded with meaning. These discrete objects are then juxtaposed (glued, sewn, painted, drawn) in such a way as to create a set and its props that suggest a dramatic /tragic/comic narrative. While the narratives that I imply are absurd, they make perfect sense in a mechanical, two-dimensional sense.
