“Freedom is my signature”
Bio:
Hala Aref el Rayess, born in july1979, artist, daughter of an artist. She has travelled form Arab countries to Europe, South America and back to the forgotten land, Lebanon. Her inspiration was her father and how he taught her to view the world through his artistic eyes. She is now settled in Beirut for the reason of building her father’s dream, which is having a museum in his name and also having workshops to facilitate for those in need to become artists. As a rebelled artist, she could never attend an art class as it was like being caged up. Freedom is her signature.
Statement:
Women; One of the strongest yet weakest creatures on this planet. We are so involved in our problems today, in the everyday crazy modern life that we are forgetting who we really are; WOMEN = BEAUTY, we are beautiful in every way. Mother Nature is a woman, she is a creator and the same goes for us. As a woman, I use my feelings to drive my art. My colours are my emotions, are a reminder that beauty lies within our selves. My shapes, a reminder of how sharp or bubbly we can be. Pop art, the one way I would describe my abstract work. Colours and funk, it’s all about feelings/emotions, and movement/motion.
Its been a year now that I have not been able to grab a brush and create anything. My inspiration, motivation, and all the things that drive my art, have flown out the window. However fate has pulled me into a group of young, empowered and productive women artists. Their support as a team is intricately connected and joyful. Now that I have this chance to “paint again”, I want to share this with all the girlies that are down in life, for what ever reason may come of it. Make yourself through your talents and your wants and don’t name it work, call it play! ;)
A thought, see how you feel towards each of my paintings instead of analyzing them.
